I don’t have any facts, but I believe not. Of course, I think there are certain regulations according to the circumstances, such as if someone was wrongly convicted, then obviously they would have to be declared wrongfully convicted and in that case I am pretty sure that they would be able to adopt children as the claim would have seen them as innocent.

First of all, I understand you mean adopting someone’s children as in a Step-Father adopting his stepchild. Not adopting a child from an orphanage.

It depends on many issues. Is the other parent going to object and fight the adoption? If there is no objection, then a background check will probably not even be done.

If the offender is off probation, he is allowed to live with his wife and her kids already. So if they are already living with him, then adopted or not, they are in the same amount of risk. But as you have stated, he is not a pedophile but someone that made a mistake, like a frat boy sleeping with a 17 year old co-ed at the keg party.

If the offender is on probation, they will need to get a Risk Assessment from a Forensic Psychiatrist. This is also called a “Psycho-Sexual Examination”. This will help with any objections the court may have if he comes out clean on the report.

There are several classes of sexual offender. Pedophiles and dangerous offenders are put in one class. There are other classes for more gray areas: where a 19 year old has sexual relations with their 17 year old girl friend for example.

Some sexual offenses (like the 19 year old and 17 year old) may be purged at some point, and once they are off the record, then they can carry on like the item was never their in the first place, and should all other tests prove positive, they may be able to adopt their spouses children.

Not to judge anyone, but please make sure you totally understand what you’re asking of your children before you subject them to an adoptive parent who has a sexual offense on their record. Don’t go by what the offender says happened, go to the police station and get the reports and the court reports and follow what your head says is the most logical conclusion.

No, they would not allow it. And of course the parent of the child would determine the *** offender poses no risk. So many people have such little judgement.

The parent is an idiot and hopefully when the judge gets wind of these shenanigans the kids are yanked out of these peoples home. Why would anyone risk their kids over someone who may have been wrongly convicted..You take the word of a convicted child molester. Think with your head not with your libido. Sick!!

I would hope not. If a single woman can’t adopt (unless from China or Africa or else “donated” a lot of money to the adoption agency like a bribe) it would be messed up if they were to allow a child molestor to adopt just because he got married. I don’t even know if they’re allowed to live in a home with children especially if they are not biologically theres. I hope the mother could be charged with child endangerment and get the child taken away. I sure would be picketing on their lawn for the freedom of the child from such a situation.
